This is a commercial site from Snohomish Washington sponsored by Michael and Lynn Monroe. They apparently have the largest certified organic shiitake farm in Washington (as told by the Monroe's: Tim Batiste, our state organic inspector, told us last summer that we were by far). They primarily sell home growing kits. They have listed kits for growing Oysters (the mushrooms of course) and a Reishi mushroom kit. Quotes from satisfied growers on their web page include: "Fungus Among Us Mushroom Kits are high producing easy to maintain long lasting kits with strains that can be fruited inside your house" Ken Crossman President, Snohomish County Mycological Society and "I had extremely great luck with my Fungus Among Us Shiitake Kit. It's great tasty and very healthy!" from Nancy Wyatt, RN., Member of Snohomish County Mycological Society. Added: 1/20/96; Last verified: 5/18/96
This is a web site advertising The Growing Edge magazine. Verbatim:
"Each issue is packed with information on the latest in indoor, outdoor and greenhouse growing such as artificial lights, hydroponics, aquaculture, plant propagation and breeding, and much more, presented for both the professional grower and hobby gardener.
The Growing EDGE has broken the bonds of gravity to explore NASA research for food production in space; crossed the boundary between grower and retailer to feature a supermarket that grows its own greens hydroponically, under lights; delved into biologically active plant nutrient solutions (bioponics); merged biomes to flourish in the indoor tropics of the Northwest with Oregon homegrown bananas; pursued exotic fungus with details of edible mushroom production; and much more." What a cool name. What a cool site! If you are looking for mushroom cultivation equipment of any type, you have found the perfecti (ha ha) site. This site is very complete and is definitely one of the top sites available on mushrooms. As they mention on their home page though, if you are surfing this site with a 14.4 or lower baud rate modem, you might want to disable images (bummer, because the pictures are truly awesome). In addition to tons (probably literally) of growing supplies and pictures that are one of a kind (some were taken for Paul Stamets new book), they have pages on Mycomedicinal and dried mushroom products, a list of mushroom cultivation seminars by them, and some information on Psilocybes. If you are looking at growing wild mushrooms, check this out. Although it is specifically targeting magic mushrooms, the techniques used here should be valid for many different types of mushrooms. This is not a text only document: we have pictures, we have diagrams, we have a very impressive work. Keep in mind that growing magic mushrooms is currently against the law and the posting of this site is purely for the informational content pertaining to growing wild mushrooms (there, I said it again).
