New WVMS Members

Please welcome to the club the following new members: Gene Lantis of Dallas; Lee Hettema of Dallas; Victor Selvig of Dallas; Mark Roberts of Salem; Ralph and Donna McColly of Silverton, and Richard and Bonnie Landers of Salem.

If I've forgotten to include you as a new member (or did include you as a new member when your not), please let me know at the next meeting.

Meeting Location

Meetings are at 7:30 p.m. the first Monday of the month, October through December and February through June. We meet at:

Jason Lee Methodist Church
820 Jefferson Street NE
Salem

Meetings are held in the Kirby Room on the first floor. Parking is at the back entrance of the church, on the corner of Winter Street and Norway. There is a ramp available at this entrance for persons unable to use the stairs.

Meeting Location

The December 7th meeting will be presented by Dr. Andrew Moldenke who is a professor of entomology at Oregon State University. He will speaking about not only the mushrooms that grow on the forest floor, but also the things that grow under the forest floor. This should be a very interesting meeting, and we hope that everyone can show up.

Sometime in the spring, either the February or March meeting, we will have Dr. Nancy Weber here to speak about her current research specialty, which apparently centers somewhere in the Ascomycetes. Look in The New Savory Wild Mushroom starting on page 199, or starting on page 782 of Mushrooms Demystified (2nd edition) to see what an Ascomycete is.

As always, bring whatever mushrooms you find before the meeting date for sharing and identification (hopefully).

Also, don't forget that there is no regularly scheduled meeting for January. It's usually just a tad too cold for most mushrooms to fruit during the month of January anyway.
