Simanews reports that their springtime foray had attendees from across 8 states, with 149 different species found.
With noted mycologist Orson Miller as a member, and also as an attendee of this foray, they were well equipped for identification of the found species.
Also in attendance at this foray were Jan Lindgren and Judy Roger of the Oregon Mycological Society.
As an interesting aside, they published their membership listing for 1993, which includes 45 members. This is very close to the size of our current membership.

MushRumors reported that David Arora (author of "Mushrooms Demystified") will be the featured guest at a gourmet mushroom dinner on Thursday, October 28th. This will be followed by a slide show and talk, along with a book signing as well. MushRumors reports that the "dinner will be prepared by the chefs of SantŽ, (Natures' restaurant) using fresh mushrooms that are available." The next day will include a foray lead by David.
The cost for this event is $95.00. For further information contact Shannon Lock at Nature's, at 3008 SE Division Street in Portland, or phone 503-234-3008.
There have been several reports by OMS members that House Bill 2865-A has passed. This bill deals with the theft of forest products for State and private lands. Initially only specifically dealing with yew bark and needles, it has been expanded to include all special forest products, including wild edible mushrooms.
State police now have the authority to check with motorists for the proper permits and quantities, where the amount of wild mushrooms is in excess of one gallon.
This bill apparently will take effect on January 1, 1994 (with the exception of yew bark and needles).
Prices: $4.00 for adults, $2.00 for seniors over 60, and $2.00 for children ages 6 through 14.
