This is the initial history of the world. We haven't even come up with an in char name for the world yet. That's LAME. oh well.

Events |
Before The Revolution |
West of the Chasm |
Unknown |
Central Forest and Southern Lands |
Elves primarily are the ones with magic, since they live longer and
have longer to develop skills. Mages rule over the others in their
area, imposing their will upon them. |
Eastern Portions of Central Forest |
Sparsely populated with mostly non-magical and nature-magical types,
human and elven. Some of the petty fae live there also, but are
reclusive. The petty fae are inherently magical, doing certain
things using their magical abilities, but do not learn magic and
cast spells. |
Eastern Mountains |
Dwarves live there and are relatively isolated, working on their
mining and refining skills. Gold gold gold. |
|
The Revolution Year 0 |
West of the Chasm |
Unknown |
Central Forest and Southern Lands |
Mages put down a revolution of people who are attempting to
actually have their own lives. The remaining rebels either knuckle
under or flee east. Those who flee are chased through the eastern
forest and head for the hills, which turn into the Eastern Mountains. There they meet the dwarves. |
Eastern Portions of Central Forest |
Forest dwellers are invaded first by fleeing rebels and
refugees, then the mages and their armies who are chasing the
rebels. The petty fae hide. The rebels and refugees move gradually
east, most passing out of the forest, across the plains, to
the foothills. Some of the stronger and/or greedier natural mages
decide to take their place among the elite, and head west. A few
remain here, feeling at home with the forest. |
Eastern Mountains |
Dwarves meet the refugees and, after a brief time of dispute,
settle for the refugees occupying the foothills and doing above-ground
farming/hunting, trading with the dwarves for manufactured goods -
farm implements and spear/arrow heads and so on. Gradually the two
become more friendly with each other and work on common
interests(technology). |
|
TheInterim Years |
West of the Chasm |
Unknown |
Central Forest and Southern Lands |
Mages continue as they were, relatively stagnant but for
learning/creating a few new spells. Mostly they are content
to do what they always have done, with the less magic-capable
as their serfs. |
Eastern Portions of Central Forest |
This area has been annexed by the magic-capable, but remains
less controlled. That is to say, mages wave their hands a lot and
then say it is not ³worth² controlling more, when in reality they
canıt figure out how to. |
Eastern Mountains |
The refugees continue to learn about technology, becoming more
and more capable. As the years go on, the refugees become more and
more organized, and begin inventing technologies for destruction,
with the idea of returning to the central and southern lands, this
time to win. |
|
Year 320 |
West of the Chasm |
Used by the mages as a source of vicious (and confused)
warriors. |
Central Forest and Southern Lands VS Eastern Mountains |
War. The former refugees bring the technological skills from the
east and attempt to destroy the magic users. The mages counterattack
the dwarven lands, using their magics to transport crazed and
disoriented groups of the lesser races from west of the chasm right
into the dwarven tunnels. Battles rage, with both sides taking
extreme losses. At this point a large portion of the central forest
is completely desolated by the battles. Finally the leaders come to
an uneasy truce. |
Eastern Portions of Central Forest |
This area is defended by the fae and druids. Protections go up
around the trees and these lands simply do not appear to exist for
the entire year. |
|
Year 321 To current |
West of the Chasm |
The lesser races are getting a bit bolder. Some still have items
left from the wars. Raiding starts. The folk being raided start
thinking about setting up border guards. |
Central Desert, Northern Jungle, and Southern Lands |
The Magic Lands. The elves, having a desert instead of a forest,
expand north into the jungle, where food and wood is available. An
uneasy truce exists between these lands and the lands to the east.
Technology is banned from the strongly elven portions, such as the
desert and jungle. The city of Middai allows some technology; however
it is not openly accepted or used. In other areas, tech exists but
is not supposed to be practiced. Certainly, any technology that could
be used for battle is unacceptable in these areas. |
Eastern Forest |
The Wild Forests, also called the Forest of Mist. The only portion
of the old central forest to escape destruction. The fae and
natural mages, as well as the mundanes more associated with the natural
order of things (often practicing the ranger skills) still protect these
lands, surrounding the forest with a strange mist. Often travelers
cannot even find the forest. |
Eastern Mountains |
The Technological Lands. As with the central and southern lands, an
uneasy truce exists here. Magical items are banned from the dwarven
tunnels. The dwarves have created technologies to detect many
magics. The foothills are less restricted, but combat magic is not
acceptable there either. |
