The wilderness surrounding Spruce Cone Park Condominium is a paradise for the naturalist, sportsman, and outdoor enthusiasts of all persuasions, including fishermen, hunters, bird and wildlife watchers, photographers, bikers and hikers, and boaters. The views from the park are fabulous! And, of course, winter sports dominate the scene from first snow well into early spring with ice fishing plus snowmobiling and cross country skiing on over 200 groomed trails in addition to many ungroomed trails.

Fishing

Spruce Cone Park Condominium is in the center of the Connecticut Lakes region and offers some of the best fishing in the northeast. Lakes, rivers, streams and meadow brooks present a variety of cold water species, including brook trout, rainbow trout, brown trout, lake trout and landlocked salmon.

The New Hampshire record brown trout was taken literally in the middle of Pittsburg village in the Connecticut River. It was 38.5 inches long and weighed 16 pounds 6.5 ounces!

Hunting

The hundreds of square miles of unspoiled forest and clearings provide wildlife with made to order habitat, almost all of it open to public hunting. Game ranging from rabbit and fox to deer, bear and moose is plentiful. Some of the largest whitetail deer in North America inhabit the area, and hunting success rates are very high. The same is true of moose hunting, which is conducted on a lottery basis involving both resident and out-of-state hunters.

In addition, the best bird hunting in the Northeast can be found here, with grouse and woodcock making for some exciting shooting.

ATV Riding

ATV enthusiasts will find hundreds of miles of trails in Pittsburg and vicinity. The Great North Woods Riders ATV Club maintains 60 miles of trails on several thousand acres of private land. Also, The North Country ATV trail system covers more than 30,000 acres with 120+ miles of trails in nearby North Stratford and Errol, NH among several other nearby towns.

Winter Sports

Snowmobiling, ice fishing and cross country skiing are in full swing from December to April. There are 200+ miles of groomed trails and many more ungroomed, all within the limits of Pittsburg, Clarksville and Stewartstown.

Photography

For those who just like to observe and do their shooting with cameras, the abundance of wild animals plus native and migrating birds in the area is a bonanza.

Hiking/Biking

Summer and early fall are the best times for hiking and bike riding on miles of well maintained trails and logging roads in spectacular settings. Mountain bikers will find everything from easy to moderately strenuous rides, and hikers who brave the climb up Magalloway Mountain, for example, will be rewarded with breathtaking views of Vermont, Canada, and Maine.

Canoeing/Kayaking

With Lake Francis alone covering a few thousand acres of pristine unspoiled water, you can enjoy incredibly relaxing boating in tranquil, extraordinarily beautiful wilderness settings.
